Getting some laps in and learning the track, those were the goals for Bo’s second test before starting of the first race in the Spanish Open next week. And because Bo never raced at Jerez this was a great opportunity to get to know the Jerez track, wich will also be the venue for the first race in the Red Bull Rookies Cup. “Jerez is a great track with lots of highspeed corners, for me it is important to get to know the track, the Spanish guys riding in the Spanish open know this track like their own backyard, so they have a clear advantage. The first day we were trying to set up the bike. Though we had some data from last year, we still had to start blank and with getting some laps in we slowly improved. Working with the mechanics is still getting better and better. I have to tell them what I feel while riding the bike and they try to come up with a solution to improve the bike setting. Though laptimes weren’t that bad, there’s still room for improvement.” It is still a little early to make any conclusions, but Bo is watching his competitors, who were testing here as well. “The level of the riders in the Spanish Open is very high, in laptimes there are only thousands of seconds difference, it is going to be a very demanding championship. There were also some riders wich will take part in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, and the first race will be held here, so this test is really important to me. I want to get a good result in that first race!” The second day of testing was quit another story because of the strong wind. This resulted in a highspeed crash for Bo in the third session. “I felt the wind getting under the bike in the fastest corner of the track. There wasn’t anything I could do about it. I went off really hard, but these things can happen under these circumstances. Luckily I wasn’t harmed and I could ride again in the fifth session to get the confidence up again. That went pretty well. Now we have four days of rest before the first race. I’m looking forward to it ! “
