Ninth spot after first two races in Spanish Open

Taking a ninth spot in race one and twelfth in race two, Bo was very happy with his results in this first meeting in the Spanish Open. He managed fifteenth in qualifying. “The first race went really well, though I lost four spots in the start, wich meant I had to close a gap immediately to get to the fast boys in the lead. After four or five laps I got into a group fighting for seventh. Near to the end of the race I was passed really fast by a guy that caused a crash in the group involving three riders. I was lucky to avoid that and could continue. In the second race I had a bad start again and lost seven places. I got into a group where I knew I was quickest, but I could not get away from them. Those guys braked so late into the corners it felt like getting to a complete stop. That way they blocked me and I wasn’t able to open up a gap. It is hard to find some room in such a group to try to break away, even if you are faster. I wanted to get into the group in front, those guys were more up on my pace. I’m less pleased with the second race then my first. But I am ninth after these two races and that is great !” In qualifying Bo planned to take it easy the first session and then try to score in the second. But he managed to set a personal best allready in the first session: 1.48,871. He did not better that time in the second session. “In the second session I was behind a group, but I couldn’t get a good slipstream. They were constantly swapping places and overtaking eachother, that’s why I lost some speed and wasn’t able to get in a faster laptime. Fifteenth isn’t that bad, but we could have been faster.” Walter Jansen, Bo’s data engineer: “Bo is a fast learner and picks up things quick, eager to try things out. We are very pleased with his results so far. After Bo’s crash last week we used the first Free Practice to let him build his confidence again. The competition in the Spanish Open is fearce and the championship is even harder this year. Everybody is going extremely fast. This year is a learning year for Bo, good to get some experience under his belt. He managed a great result this weekend and we are very proud of that!”
