Hard fought battle for Bo in Jerez

Bo Bendsneyder showed a determined fight today in the South of Spain. Starting the heated competition in 23rd position, the Dutch Moto2 rookie stepped up the game mainly in the second part of the race and made up a lot of positions. The Tech3 Racing Team rider eventually ended up in 16th place to miss out on his first point by just 0.256 seconds.

Bo Bendsneyder; Position: 16th – Championship: 23rd – Points: –

“In the beginning the race was quite difficult, because it was very hectic. My start wasn’t the best, so I lost some positions, but after that I was improving lap by lap and overtaking one rider after another. We knew that the track was quite hot and everybody had to push to the limit in the windy conditions, so there were some crashes. It was difficult to stay on the bike, but finally we finished the race. I’m just sad, that we didn’t get that first point. Anyway, I think we are on a good way, especially after the first three tricky weekends.”

Hervé PONCHARAL, Team Manager

“Obviously, it’s disappointing to finish 16th, because you always want to have points, particularly for the first time with Bo in this 2018 Moto2 World Championship. But especially during the second part of the race he showed some real speed, fighting spirit and he came back to P16. I think one or two more laps could have meant 15th, but it is what it is. His lap times towards the end were very impressive, he was as fast as the guys in the top 10, so this is showing, that Bo can be with the other rookies, which is where we want to be. I hope this will give Bo’s moral a real boost and help him to understand what his real value is.
