Following a strong Warm Up this morning, Bo Bendsneyder was on fire at the Chang International Circuit today. In the course of the race she passed one rival after another, showing a very fast and consistent pace to finally bring home the first two points of the season whilst finishing 14th.
Bo Bendsneyder – Position: 14th – Championship: 27th – Points: 2
“I’m really happy about the race! In the beginning I struggled a bit to overtake two or three riders, so I lost a lot of time, but the guys gave me a great bike for doing consistent lap times and pushing every time. We were catching the guys who were fighting for the top 12 and finally I arrived 14th, just a bit over two seconds behind my teammate. I had to come from far, but I never gave up, kept pushing and finally we achieved the points. Now we need to look for the next race to focus a lot for Qualifying to be not that much in traffic for the first laps. Anyway, I want to thank the guys that work for me and the whole team. We work so hard all season, which is a difficult one, but now it paid off. I’m happy with it and am looking forward to the next race.”
Hervé PONCHARAL – Team Manager
“From the beginning of the week, we’ve been very, very happy in Thailand – a great country, great people, great organization, super circuit, but our cherry on the cake was a really strong Moto2 race. Remy Gardner got an incredible start, managed to stay in a very strong position, fighting with Xavi and I think they remembered the good old days when they were teammates. Finally, he brought it to 12th position and got four important points. It was a tough race with the heat, but clearly, Remy the second part of the year is really strong, focused, working hard, learning and understanding and I’m very proud of him. This is a great 50 percent of the team, but the other part did a super job. I would like to congratulate Bo on his first points of the year. It was a very tough season for him, we know the potential of this young guy. He is not only a charming guy, but also a fast rider, although it was for him maybe a bit more difficult than what he was expecting. His start was not ideal, but his pace was unbelievable. I think in the second part of the race he had the pace for the top 10. Anyway, we have two riders in the points, Remy four points and Bo with two. I’m very, very happy for the entire team, as the whole Moto2 team worked really hard. Of course, I’m happy for Remy, but I would say I’m even happier for Bo, because when you are that close to the points every single race and this is round 15, you feel you will never touch the points, but now he got it and I hope he’s going to get plenty more before the end of the year. Thanks to everybody!”
