With a hard-fought twelfth place in the GP of Austria, Dominique Aegerter gave NTS RW Racing GP four points. Bo Bendsneyder fared less well in the first race at the Red Bull Ring. He finished in 22nd place.
The Moto2 race was a hectic race to say the least. Aegerter got off to a good start from 24th place and was able to advance to eighteenth place when the race had to be halted in the fourth lap due to a mega crash by Enea Bastianini that also knocked Edgar Pons, Hafizh Syahrin and Andi Farid Izdihar out of the race. Aegerter was very lucky that flying debris narrowly missed him.
For the restart of a race of thirteen more laps, the passage of the third lap applied, which meant that the Swiss could start from nineteenth place. For Bo Bendsneyder that meant a start from 25th place. Aegerter got away well again and even managed to reach tenth place. In a tough fight in a group with Joe Roberts, Lorenzo Baldassarri and Somkiat Chantra, he eventually took twelfth place: one position lower than the best result for NTS RW Racing GP so far (Bendsneyder’s eleventh place in Qatar).
Bendsneyder had a hard time a lot further back in a lonely race, in which he could not make a fist. The Dutchman finished 22nd, 29.300 behind race winner Jorge Martin.
Bo Bendsneyder: “Well… That was really difficult. I never had the right feeling. After FP1 we lost our way. We just didn’t know what to do anymore. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that easy to throw in Dominique’s set-up and ride the same pace. The race itself didn’t really help either, with that crash and the restart. Hopefully the data will help us pick up the thread for next weekend and achieve better results, because this makes no one happy.”
