Despite coming down with the Flu, Bo left the test for the Red Bull Rookies Cup with a good feeling. At the end of the official test at Motorland Aragon he took twelfth place, and regarding his physical condition he was quit pleased with his perfomance. “The competition is quit fearce, they were allready faster in this test then last year’s race at Aragon. That shows everybody is going to the max and it will be an interesting season. Despite not feeling that well I’m happy with my performance this week.” The youngster from Rotterdam had a good start the first day. It was quit hot with 30° under the Spanish sun. The first day was used to get to know the bike and the riders were using a shortened layout of the circuit. A problem with the gearshifter forced Bo to retire but the problem was fixed quickly by the experienced mechanics, so Bo was soon on his way again. “The bike is running well and I got used to it in a short time. Working with René, my mechanic, is going very well and communication is going smooth.” The next day Bo got on his bike feeling not that well, despite feeling reasonably well in the morning, he feels worse in the afternoon. He is still able to put in some constant laps, but is not able to improve on his times. He ends in sixteenth spot at the second day. “After a few sessions I noticed I was completely worn down, my body was aching all over and I couldn’t race the way I wanted to, that was very frustrating.” The third day of rest was a welcome gift fo Bo. There were only some interviews and a briefing planned for the riders. On the fourth day the action is back on the track and Bo manages to set the ninth fastest time of the day. Overall he finishes twelfth after three days of testing. “I felt better the last day and I set the same times I was doing two days ago immediately. There was a lot of wind today and the track is not that easy to learn in a short period of time. I think we could have been more in front, but looking at the circumstances I’m quit happy about this test. The coming days I’m going to take some rest and then back to training so I will be fully fit at the start of the first race in Jerez.”
