Bendsneyder 9th on second day in Portimao

Testing for the Moto2™ and Moto3™ classes continued in Portimao through Saturday, with a wet track greeting riders this morning after overnight rain. Proceedings eventually got underway, and it is Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) who goes into the final day’s runs as the rider to beat.

The Spaniard recorded a 1:42.234 to leave him atop the timesheets, displacing Friday’s fastest rider Aron Canet (Pons Wegow Los40) who finished 0.217s behind the 2021 Moto3™ World Champion. Sam Lowes continued his good showing in the south of Portugal and managed to crack the top three times of the Test so far, but he is still over half a second off of Acosta’s impressive effort. Bo Bendsneyder, (11th in FP5, no time set in FP4) was in the top 15 spots all session, eventually finishing in 9th.

Not everyone could master the mixed conditions through the day, with a number of crashes occurring, with Albert Arenas (Red Bull KTM Ajo), Alonso Lopez (CAG Speed Up) and Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing) among the highest profile names to hit the deck in the intermediate class.
